Although not commonly considered the most desirable type of kratom, stem and vein kratom should not be written off too quickly.
Stem and vein kratom is a type of kratom made solely from the stems and veins of other kratom products.
However, because the de-stemming and de-veining process is not exact, you can expect that around 30% of the kratom in stem and vein is leaf material.
This type of kratom has a variety of uses that can make it worthwhile for many users, such as reducing kratom tolerance, increased duration of effects, for mixing purposes, and health benefits.
The primary use of stem and vein kratom by itself is for reduction of kratom tolerance. When stem and vein kratom is mixed with other strains, it can increase the duration of kratom and provide more well-rounded effects than the leaf alone.
Reducing tolerance is essential for anyone who uses kratom on a daily basis.
Without lowering your tolerance, the effects of kratom can diminish quite rapidly, and for anyone looking to lower their tolerance it is ideal.
Because of the properties of certain alkaloids more common in stem and vein, it can lower tolerance without the irritability and negative effects that could occur from a user who stopped daily kratom leaf usage without a taper. More information on this in our how to use kratom article.
By using stem and vein for a period of time, one can return to taking kratom and have a dramatically improved quality of effects.
Because of the way it is structured, s & v takes longer for the body to process it fully, and therefore lasts around 50% longer than the leaf material alone. For those who want long-term relief but aren’t able to take it frequently, this can be a big help.
For a surprising amount of kratom users, mixing it with their regular leaf material has added a great dimension to the plants effects.
Many users have stated that when they mix their S & V with leaf material, their kratom experience becomes much more well-rounded. Having tried this myself, I concur. For those who are interested, I suggest mixing about 10% to 20% S & V material with their regular dose.
Additionally, when mixing these two types, you will very likely notice that the effects of the plant last a lot longer. Not only the stem and vein portions. While we are not quite sure why this is, many users have reported this effect.
Because of the alkaloids found in high quantities in S & V, there are some health benefits to using it.
Alkaloids such as mitraphylline are immune system stimulants and may have other positive effects on general health.
Additionally, stem and vein kratom has a higher fiber content than regular leaf. This can be great if you are sensitive to the digestion slowing effects of kratom.
The stem material and vein material from the kratom plant is quite different in many ways than the leaf material itself.
The most noticeable of these differences is in its alkaloidal makeup, as it has large amounts of alkaloids that aren’t as prevalent in leaf material.
While the most noticeable ones are rhynchophylline, mitraphylline, and Corynantheidine. Many of these alkaloids are unique, being found only in the kratom plant.
Some alkaloids, such as corynantheidine, which is also found in the yohimbe plant, have some action at serotonin receptors.
Mitraphylline, as well, is a fairly potent immune system stimulant.
These unique alkaloid profiles create some unique and beneficial effects which aren’t as common when using the leafy portion of the plant alone.
Overall, stem and vein kratom can provide a large variety of positive effects. I highly suggest you try it yourself and see how you like it.
How many days should stem and vein be used in order to restore the proper effects of kratom usage. I have heard 3-5 days. If so, what is the dosage. I have heard it should be higher than my normal dosage of kratom leaf.
Thank You!
When you order “S&V” from kratom vendors, is it just a “generic” stem and vein mix, or is there red, white, green S&V or is the vein color immaterial in this situation?
Generally speaking, the stem and vein from all strains is set aside, pooled together and processed at once. However, one distributor I’m aware of only de-veins their stronger strains order to further increase their strength, and this stem and vein is generally of somewhat higher quality.
So do I take just the stem and vein instead of my normal kratom for a while to bring my kratom tolerance back to the beginning before I took kratom daily?
